Overview

Australia’s special geographic position creates both opportunities and challenges for economic, cultural, religious, health, environmental and social developments between Australia and its Asia-Pacific neighbours.

We seek to promote the values of respect and dignity in our respective societies, and to highlight the multifaceted connections between Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

The objectives of Beyond Australia are:

To make a contribution to increasing Australians knowledge of and competencies in working with people of the Asia-Pacific region
To make a positive contribution to engagement with and promotion of civil society in the Asia Pacific region.

Large Grants Program

The current priority areas of the Beyond Australia program are:

Building of Australian competency and knowledge about Muslims and Islam, with a specific focus on Indonesia
Papua New Guinea.
